Corporate Volunteering

This week, six volunteers from Volker Fitzpatrick, who are one of the entities building the new underground depot at Cockfosters, joined the Tuesday volunteer group for a very productive conservation session on the Common.

The combined team made an excellent start clearing brambles from around the young saplings in the coppice area, removing competing vegetation and helping to give the newly planted hazel, hornbeam and sweet chestnut whips a better chance to establish. Despite the challenging task that getting bramble out is, the volunteers enthusiastically got stuck in, achieved visible results and enjoyed learning more about the project and the future management of the woodland.

The session was a great example of community collaboration, and Volker Fitzpatrick have already expressed an interest in returning to continue supporting the work. It was a pleasure to welcome their team and we look forward to working together again.
