White Gates – now fully restored

We are delighted to say that the white gate and gatepost marking the entrance to the common at the top of Hadley Road have now been repaired and restored to their rightful place.  You may recall they were badly damaged when they were struck by an articulated lorry last year.  We’re sorry it’s taken so long to get this done, but the gates at entrances to the Common are listed structures so local authority consent to the work has been required, and we needed to find a suitable expert firm to carry out the work.  Work was also needed to repair the main gate post, and make sure it is well-secured and upright.

Here is a picture of the gate being put back in place (15th September 2026).

Here are also a few pictures of the gates just after they were damaged, and being taken away on 24th August for repair.  You can see just how deeply the post is embedded into the ground.
